Beatdown on Bell Street

Two mixed martial arts fighters from the Big Bear Academy Martial Art Warrior Training Hall were invited to compete in the Beatdown on Bell Street on June 23, 2012.

This Amateur MMA Event was held at the AMMA gym at 1201 East Bell Street Bloomington, IL. It was a small event, but the nights mixed martial arts fight action was pretty exciting.

Here is our fighters did:

Michael Parker was the third match of the night won his match via guillotine choke in the first round. His opponent fought to shake it for a bit, but Michael just keep digging it in until the tap came. This was his mixed martial arts debut.

Eric Colvin fought ninth in a heavyweight battle that went to the judges decision. His opponent took some serious striking punishment from Eric and took the match to the ground several times. It was close and I may have scored it differently, but Eric lost by decision.

I really appreciated all the mma fans of the night coming up to Eric and letting him know how great of a fight it was and how they thought he should have won. Not to take the win from his opponent, he fought a good fight, too!

I wasn't sure how this small venue would play out, but all in all I was impressed and we will bring fighters back if invited again.
