Tasers Now Legal in Michigan
by Trent 'kuma' Warner
There have been some changes to stun gun laws in Michigan recently. As of August 6, 2012, Tasers are now legal in Michigan. As with most stun gun law there are several exceptions and restrictions.
For instance the bill that passed will only allow Michigan civilians with Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPL) to possess TASER ECDs (Electronic Controll Device).

Senate Bill 029
Senate Bill 030
According to the new Taser regulations buyers and dealers are required to have a CPL (Concealed Pistol License). And the buyer is required to receive some training from the dealer at the time of sale.
Michigan residents will be unable to buy a Taser Electronic Control Device via the Internet, based these on the training requirements.
Taser® International is working on providing a document that will satisfy the requirements for in-person training. TASER ECD kits, such as the Taser C2, come with both a training manual and a DVD but these do not meet the legal training requirements on there own.

This new amendment to Michigan Stun Gun Law will require dealers to keep records of all TASER ECD sales.
For those of you live in Michigan and have a CPL, you will now be able to purchase a Taser® from an authorized Michigan dealer.
