UFC 114 Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans

On Saturday May 29th, 2010 UFC 114 will be held MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. While the UFC Fan Expo will be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

This Mixed Martial Arts event by the Ultimate Fighting Championship will feature the grudge match between light heavyweight contenders Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans.

Once again Spike TV will be broadcasting two live preliminary bouts one hour before the MMA PPV broadcast begins.

The full mixed martial arts fight card will features five of the Ultimate Fighter season champions:
  • Rashad Evans
  • Michael Bisping
  • Diego Sanchez
  • Amir Sadollah
  • Efrain Escudero

Forrest Griffin was orignaly scheduled to compete, but pull out due to a shoulder injury. He was scheduled to fight Antônio Rogério Nogueira. Griffin will be replaced by Jason Brilz.

Melvin Guillard was scheduled to face Thiago Tavares, but Tavares was forced off the card with an elbow injury. Waylon Lowe has stepped in as Tavares' replacement.

According to UFC President Dana White the winner between the Jackson-Evans mma bout will fight the newly crowned UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Mauricio Rua, for the Light Heavyweihgt title.

Shogun Rua's manager had suggested he would like to see Rua's first title defense be against Randy Couture. Although this mixed martial arts bout is not likley happen.

Jackson was originally supposed to fight Evans for the title after defeating Keith Jardine, but a jaw injury during that fight allowed Lyoto Machida to step in in his place.

At UFC 98 Evans was knocked out by Machida. Jackson was then expected to fight for the title against Machida, but instead became a coach on The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights against Evans.
